With its increasing membership and growing profile in the UK, the SafeContractor scheme is now used by many large organisations as a way of obtaining competent contractors.

Construction skills certification scheme

CSCS was set up to help the construction industry to improve quality and reduce accidents. CSCS cards are increasingly required as proof of occupational competence by contractors and both public and private clients. The CSCS card is the industry's largest scheme and covers 220 occupations including trades, technical, supervisory and management.

CSCS cards list the holder’s qualifications and are valid for either three or five years. It also shows they have health and safety awareness. Most contractors and clients now require proof of competence with a CSCS card, before allowing workers onto their sites.

Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)

The Disclosure Barring Service, formerly known as the CRB check, acts as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for organisations, checking police records and, in relevant cases, information held by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). This service enables organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially that which involves children or vulnerable adults.

CHAS Accreditation

BJ Communications Ltd is accredited under the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS). The CHAS accreditation covers the health and safety competence of our professionals. With a number of years in the industry, we regularly follow the stipulated guidelines and parameters.
We also undertake annual assessments to ensure that high levels of health and safety managements are fulfilled.
